The Arts

Information

Sacred Heart believes in Arts Education.  Exposing children to music and art during early development helps them learn sounds and meanings of words. It also helps develop their creative thinking, problem-solving, self-expression, and self-esteem.  This development continues into older children and adults.  Furthermore, an education in the fine arts helps students to see what they look at, hear what they listen to, and feel what they touch. It helps students to stretch their minds beyond the boundaries of textbooks or curriculum rules.

Our students have opportunities to participate in many different art competitions and shows throughout the school year such as Rowan Public Library's Annual Bookmark Contest, the Waterworks' School Art Show and the Rowan County Art Show.

Our students also have opportunities to be a part of our parish choirs, handbell choirs, Christmas programs and our Annual Spring Musical which will be performed at Catawba College this May 2022.  Our past performances have included Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Dear Edwina, Seussical the Musical, The Little Mermaid and Alice in Wonderland. This spring, we look forward to 101 Dalmatians.
