PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)

MEMBERSHIP
 
Each family pays a nominal PTO fee at the beginning of the school year, making all parents PTO members. 

Meetings are held once a month on the school campus and all parents are welcome.

PURPOSE OF THE PTO

The primary function is to work with the school faculty in developing and conducting fund raising activities. These charitable events help to purchase necessary classroom equipment, playground equipment and books for new or updated curriculum.

ENHANCING SCHOOL LIFE

In addition, the PTO sponsors many school events that enhance school life for our students. Some of our PTO’s annual activities and projects are included below:

There are ongoing activities throughout the school year which include:

-Mr. Gatti’s Pizza / Chick-Fil-A / Five Guys Restaurant Fundraisers

Kindergarten Reception - Our Kindergarten Reception helps welcome kindergarten parents on the first day of school. This is an informal way for parents to get to know each other as well as ask questions of our faculty and PTO staff.

Innisbrook Wrapping Paper - Our Innisbrook Wrapping Paper Sale is one of our larger fund raisers and usually starts the end of August through mid-September.

Fall Open House - Our Fall Open House is a school-wide event where the parents and teachers can come together to share comments about their children in a fun and relaxed environment. There are activities in which the children can participate, and snacks are provided by the PTO. Our January Open House is offered during the registration period so that interested families can come tour our school and ask candid questions of volunteer parents, teachers and faculty.

Holiday Caravan Parade - Our participation in Salisbury’s Annual “Holiday Caravan Parade” is a big event for the school. The PTO sponsors a professional float each year on which some of our students and faculty can ride to represent our school.

Annual Poinsettia Sale - Our Annual Poinsettia Sale begins in November. This is another large fundraiser. Our flowers come from a local nursery and are ready for delivery the week after the Thanksgiving Holidays.

Christmas Store - Our Christmas Store is a fun time designed for the children at Sacred Heart. PTO purchases items all year long and at Christmas, we open a store where the children can shop for gifts for their families. These gifts are affordable with prices ranging from fifty cents to ten dollars.

Annual Golf Tournament - Our Annual Golf Tournament is currently the largest of all our fund raising events. This event also includes our Gift Basket Raffle where each class (Kindergarten through 8th grade) is responsible for their basket theme and contents. Tickets are sold prior to the golf tournament by the students and parents.

PTO Scholarship - Our PTO Scholarship is offered to an alumnus who has plans to further his/her education. Throughout the school year, PTO sponsors fun nights such as Mr. Gatti’s Pizza Night and Five Guys Night where the proceeds fund the scholarship.

May Field Day - Our Field Day in May is a fun school day full of activities that ends with a pep rally and Locks of Love Event.

Publicity Committee - Our school publicity committee is busy all year. They are responsible for all the marketing of our PTO activities and fundraisers as well as marketing the school to the public. Publicity is also directly involved in regular published communications (usually in the form of church bulletin inserts) between the parish and school. They also help make the general public aware of upcoming events such as registration and alumni accomplishments.
